The Diversity and Diplomacy panel discussion took place on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Ambassadors and foreign service officers discussed the efforts the Department of State is making to diversify its workforce. The organizers were the Claremont McKenna College Washington Program, CMC Washington, DC Chapter, and the Ralph J. Bunche Center at Howard University. CMC Trustee, Amb. Steven McGann moderated the forum. K & L Gates sponsored the event.
The Ralph Bunche Center, Howard University, manages the Thomas Pickering and Charles B. Rangel fellowship programs for the US Department of State designed to increase the number of minorities and women in the Foreign Service. CMC students have been among the recipients of these graduate fellowships.
