A GOP candidate accused of hiring gunmen to shoot up Democratic officials’ homes once called for ‘civility’ between the political parties. Solomon Pena — a 39-year-old Republican politician who lost his run for a New Mexico House of Representatives seat in November — was arrested Monday on suspicion of being the “mastermind” behind shootings at the homes of four elected Democrats.

Back in August 2022 while he was campaigning for the New Mexico election, Pena tweeted words of support for a Democratic state senator who was involved in a car crash, saying he wished for a “speedy recovery.”
“Even though I am a #Republican and he’s a democrat we can’t lose our civility towards one another,” his campaign account tweeted.
